Authorities have identified a 36-year-old man as the driver who was discovered shot and killed following a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 264. According to a statement from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, McPheeters succumbed to a gunshot wound on October 31.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. when Louisville Metro Police responded to reports of a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-264, near Breckenridge Lane. LMPD spokesperson John Bradley noted that a black Honda lost control, rolled over, and collided with two other vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers found that McPheeters had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the location and time of the incident. It has been confirmed that McPheeters was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
