The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into a deadly shooting that took place on Saturday evening near Newark’s West Side Park. Authorities confirmed that 44-year-old Rahman Loyal, a Newark resident, was killed in the incident.
The tragic event unfolded around 7:00 p.m. in the 600 block of South 13th Street, where nearby residents reported hearing a rapid series of gunshots. Responding to the 911 calls, Newark police officers arrived at the scene and discovered Loyal lying on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
