“I’m so grateful to Pete for bringing this beautiful person into our lives. The impact Natasha made on this world will ensure her bright light never dims. We will miss you, my friend.”
About Natasha Alexenko
Natasha Simone Alexenko was born in Long Island, New York, and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. She is the founder and CEO of Natasha’s Justice Project (NJP), a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing justice to sexual assault survivors and exposing and eradicating the backlog of rape kits across the country. The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and other domestic and foreign media outlets have all written about Alexenko.
She was the subject of the HBO documentary Sex Crimes Unit and has appeared as a guest on broadcast and cable networks. While Vice President Joe Biden and New York County (Manhattan) District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. offered a combined $80 million to assist offset the cost and reduce the backlog of untested rape kits, Alexenko told her tale during the historic joint press conference in 2015. Alexenko is a consultant for the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Grants (SAKI) program of the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance.
