Jamil Owais Obituary Milwaukee: In loving memory of 26-year-old liquor store worker killed in Saturday shooting at Action Food and Liquor

The 26-year-old liquor shop employee who was shot and killed on Saturday morning on Milwaukee’s north side has been identified by authorities.

A Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s report states that Jamil I. Owais was killed at Action Food and Liquor, 3455 N. King Drive. According to state business records, his brother, Muhammad Owais, is the store’s registered agent.

The incident happened just before noon on Saturday, according to Milwaukee police, and a 38-year-old man was taken into custody while prosecutors prepare to file criminal charges. As of Monday afternoon, online court records showed no charges related to the matter.

On Monday, a call to the booze store was not immediately answered.

According to a funeral notice from the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, Owais was Palestinian-American and was survived by his mother, five brothers, six sisters, wife, and six-month-old daughter.

A condolence gathering is planned for approximately 8 p.m. following the evening prayer, and the funeral is set for Tuesday at 1:10 p.m. following the midday prayer at the Islamic Society, 4707 S. 13th Street, Milwaukee.
