Hunter Michael Smith from Plattsmouth Nebraska was announced dead through social media publication. No cause of death has been reported.

He was born on July 15, 2002 to Chris and Marla Smith. As a son, brother, and friend, he exemplified kindness, compassion, and an unwavering work ethic. His character was as impressive as his achievements, always striving to make others feel valued and supported.

In 2024, he placed seventh at the NSIC Championships in pole vaulting, with a jump of 4.47m indoors and earned a fifth-place finish outdoors at 4.42m. Hunter’s commitment to excellence was also seen in his victories at the DSU Twilight and Gustie Twilight events.
