A death investigation is underway after the body of a woman was discovered in a wooded area in the northern suburbs on Saturday morning. Authorities have identified the woman as 23-year-old Atalia Pucheta Martinez, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The discovery was made when a motorist passing through Busse Woods, located near Higgins Road about a mile west of Arlington Heights Road, noticed a person lying in the area around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Elk Grove Village police responded to the scene, and the Cook County Forest Preserve Police have since taken over the investigation into the woman’s death.
Elk Grove Village police stated that there were no active missing person reports connected to the case at the time, and they emphasized that there is no immediate threat to the community. Authorities are working to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
