Fatal Motorcycle Accident Closes Highway 173 In Hesperia: Investigation Ongoing

Both directions of Highway 173 in Hesperia were shut down Friday afternoon as authorities investigated a tragic collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist. The accident, reported at 2:06 p.m. on November 1, 2024, occurred east of the Mojave River Forks Campground and involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a 2023 Chevy Volt.

Upon arriving, emergency personnel confirmed that the motorcyclist was deceased at the scene. The rider, a 27-year-old father of two young children, had been out with friends when the accident occurred. The driver of the Chevy Volt was unharmed and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with the investigation.

Due to the crash, both lanes of Highway 173 were closed, causing significant traffic disruptions as authorities worked to collect evidence. Around 4:30 p.m., the coroner arrived on-site, and the recovery process of the vehicles began with a tow truck standing by.
