A tragic multi-vehicle accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including a mother and her young daughter, on US Highway 75 near the Plano and Richardson border, just before midnight.
The incident unfolded on the 3400 block of the North Central Expressway close to the George W. Bush Turnpike interchange, shutting down all southbound lanes for over nine hours.
Details of the Collision
Richardson police reported that the accident began when a Lexus SUV, driven by 27-year-old Haley Taylor, crashed into the rear of a stalled Cadillac SUV, which had seven occupants.
After the initial impact, a Dodge vehicle struck both the Lexus and Cadillac, igniting a chain reaction that involved a Nissan car and an 18-wheeler. Flying debris damaged two additional vehicles in the area.
Haley Taylor and her 6-year-old daughter were rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival. A passenger in the Cadillac, 19-year-old Alyia Khalid, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, all seven occupants of the Cadillac had exited the vehicle after it stalled and were standing nearby when the Lexus crashed into it. Of the seven Cadillac occupants, only one escaped without injury, while five others, including the driver, sustained injuries that required hospitalization. Both the driver and a passenger in the Dodge were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident site was cleared and reopened early the following morning, after extensive investigation and clean-up.
