Kinza Saleem Death: What happened to Lahore College Student, Kinza Saleem?; Viral TikTok Video
After a student at a private college in Lahore was allegedly raped by a security officer, celebrities are speaking out. In addition to ensuring the safety of students on campus, they are demanding justice.
Well-known personalities from the entertainment sector, such as Sarwat Gillani, Durefishan Saleem, and Mahira Khan, have voiced their opposition to the occurrence.
Following the widespread social media coverage of the alleged rape of a student at the Punjab Group of Colleges, a security guard was taken into custody on Sunday. A police statement states that an inquiry has been started.
Rescue officials reported on Monday that students fought with the college’s security team and later with the police during a demonstration against the alleged rape, resulting in at least 27 injuries, according to Dawn.com.
The Punjab Group of Colleges insisted in a statement that no rape incident had been reported, attributing Monday’s events to “false claims circulating on social media.”
The police claim that because the victim’s family has not come forward, a formal complaint has not been filed.
Outraged by the purported incident, students protested outside of various city universities and organized on social media. Conflicts erupted between the demonstrators and a college security team during one of the demonstrations. Both the students’ and the police’s subsequent altercations resulted in injuries.
The Punjab College for Women’s registration was halted on Monday “till further orders” by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges), Punjab.
