Shelocta Man Killed In Multi-Vehicle Accident On Route 85 In South Mahoning Township

Indiana County state police have reported a fatal multi-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old Shelocta man. The tragic incident occurred along the 3000 block of Route 85 in South Mahoning Township, with authorities responding to the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m.

The victim, identified as Rory Gittings, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was traveling eastbound on Route 85 when he veered unexpectedly into the westbound lane.

This maneuver led to a collision with an oncoming Dodge Caravan. Responding officials confirmed that Gittings suffered fatal injuries upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan and two passengers inside sustained minor injuries from the collision. They were treated at the scene, with further medical care provided as needed. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, and they are expected to make a full recovery.
