Virgil Emanual Simms IV Obituary: 26-year-old named as victim in fatal Cambridge shooting

A fatal shooting that took place in Dorchester County on Sunday night is being looked into by police. On October 20, at around 7:02 p.m., Cambridge Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert in the 600 block of Pine Street.

One victim, Virgil Emanual Simms IV, 26, was discovered by officers with multiple gunshot wounds. According to reports, Simms was declared deceased at the scene.

According to a press release, K9 units from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police (MSP) assisted in securing the crime scene.

According to the police, they retrieved several spent shot casings and discovered several vehicles damaged by gunfire in the neighborhood.

The current investigation is being assisted by MSP’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units.
